Hormis les lieux \u00e0 forte fr\u00e9quentation humaine (parcs, r\u00e9serves), il garde une grande distance et nous voit bien nous. Il reste immobile \u00e0 l&rsquo;attente d&rsquo;une proie, en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral poisson ou grenouille, parfois pendant plus d&rsquo;une heure. Le saisir au d\u00e9collage rel\u00e8ve de la patience.
