Son dos refl\u00e8te principalement la lumi\u00e8re bleue. Ceci est li\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;effet Tyndall (pigment noir et bulles d&rsquo;air emprisonn\u00e9es dans les plumes). Peu visible dans l&rsquo;ombre du feuillage, ce flash bleu devient tr\u00e8s visible en vol et est un m\u00e9canisme de d\u00e9fense contre ses pr\u00e9dateurs a\u00e9riens (\u00e9pervier). Il surprend par son flash brutal et tr\u00e8s lumineux qui \u00e9blouit le pr\u00e9dateur.
